Welcome our newest Binah Baby - Asher Rowan! This “little” guy surprised EVERYONE with his size (check the next pic for details), including his midwife!
This birth was his mama’s 4th, but first VBAC (AND first homebirth) after a cesarean for twin breech preemies 3+ years ago. She overcame a few bumps in the road on the way to birth day, always remaining committed to giving birth the way G-d intended.
After over a month of prodromal labor, this family requested a little nudge toward “real” labor. It didn’t take much to get things going! Asher arrived at 41w1d - the longest pregnancy this mama had experienced!

Congratulations to this sweet family!
“What happens if two moms are in labor at the same time?”
This is one of the most common questions I get asked. Most of the time, the babies work it out and take turns.
On March 13th, around 1:30 AM, as I raced to a 7th time mama, I called Jill of @newgenerationmidwifery to go to this 2nd time family who was just an hour in to active labor. 15 min later, I received a call from dad that her water broke. The next thing I heard was mama exclaiming “She’s coming!”, immediately followed by the strong cry of a healthy newborn! I sent dad to get a towel and called Jill back to let her know the baby had already arrived!
I made it to my 7th time mama and her baby boy flew into this world 90 seconds after I walked in the door - a whole 10 minutes after our first baby arrived!
I’m so thankful for the supportive community of midwives who love on my families when I can’t be there!
While I love my cozy office, some days are spent on the road visiting our newest babies & their families for routine postpartum care and lactation consults. This office comes with a little treat courtesy of a birthday gift from my own mom!

We are hiring!! Our main birth assistant has had to step back & we are looking to add a fresh face to our team!
We would love to add another RN, but we're open to motivated candidates who enjoy having fun & being up at 3 A.M.!
We take up to 4 births per month (avg 2-3) within a 1-hour radius of Lilburn, GA.
Please email us for more information!
Sometimes we have babies who are just very comfortable and, after hitting 42 weeks, the family chooses to give them a little nudge to encourage them to join us Earthside. One of the ways we can do this is by using a breast pump to stimulate oxytocin release. Typically, we do 10 minutes on/10 minutes off x 3 before taking an hour off. When we removed the pump from this first time mama we were ECSTATIC to see how much colostrum she was able to collect!! #liquidgold #colostrum #42weekspregnant #homebirth #informedchoice #momcozys9pro
Looking back at 2023! We are extremely proud that all of our babies were safely born at home, and especially proud that our VBAC success rate was 100%!! We are looking forward to another year of supporting growing families in 2024!

Choosing to give birth at home means committing to actively supporting your body to stay low-risk, becoming educated in the birth process, and building a team that will support you through this transformation. Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the birth of a baby boy, along with the birth of a mother, father, tía (aunt), & an abuela (grandmother). The amount of love and joy that surrounded this mother & baby as they worked together … there aren’t words. And as his father exclaimed to his wife in the minutes after catching their son, “[She] is a badass!”
Welcome to the world, Josiah! You are one incredibly blessed little boy!

Research (and generations of families) has shown that midwifery-led prenatal/birth/postpartum care leads to better maternal and infant outcomes. We are extremely proud of the care we are able to provide and the satisfaction our families report with their care!
Although we tend to focus on our happy little homebirth bubble, it is important to stay on top of what is happening in the greater community.
Today, I (Shoshanah) attended the Symposium to Address the Maternal Health Crisis in Atlanta, offered by Research America (ResearchAmerica.org). It was encouraging to hear the desire to focus on building bridges, increasing access to doulas & midwives, and general women’s health. My absolute favorite part of the event was hearing presenters and panelists vocalize the exact words that I wrote in my application essay for midwifery school.
“Support the women and keep them healthy & they will do what they do best - care for their families & communities.”
As we move into an election year, expect to see me encouraging YOU to participate in the fight for better outcomes, starting with BETTER ACCESS to evidence-based birth options. Let’s show the world that the consumers are not going to continue to accept the status quo. YOU have a voice, and we will support you in using it!#midwiferymodelofcare #maternalhealth
Both of our November babies chose to come this past weekend! Both mamas worked through past birth trauma & new (and unexpected) experiences. We are so proud of these strong warriors and their support teams! #communitybasedbirth #homebirth #traumainformedcare #certifiednursemidwife #vbac

We cannot overstate the importance of hydration for all people, but especially those who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding. In fact, it is something we discuss with every client at every visit! Midwives are notorious for not following their own advice, so we are pretty excited that our LMNT shipment arrived today to help us care for ourselves so we can keep caring for you! (Not a sponsor - we think these were worth the investment!) #communitymidwifery #hydration
August got away from us, and we forgot to welcome the two newest Binah Babies! These sweet little guys certainly lived up to the saying that “3rd babies are wild cards”! River came fast a furious, like a class 5 rapid! John thought it would be fun to surprise his mom and come earlier than his sisters, which can be a true challenege when you aren’t expecting it! So proud of them and grateful our team was able to support them in growing their families!

These final postpartum visits are bittersweet. I am thrilled to send my families into the world healthy, whole, and safe, but sad to know we won’t have regular visits anymore.
Today’s family gifted me with this amazing book, stickers asking, “What would Dr. Stu do?”, homemade gluten-free treats, and a beautiful handwritten card. The gifts are lovely, but it is the heartfelt notes that speak directly to my soul and keep me continuing to fight the good fight.
“Where do I begin? 3 years ago I never would have considered a home birth, and now, thanks to you, we’d never consider anything else! You truly are one of a kind. From our first consult, throughout pregnancy, during birth, and in postpartum your attentive, loving care and support has meant the word to me. This birth was a dream come true. I felt more empowered to trust my body than I ever have. Thank you for this gift.”

I attended the Breech/Twins Conference hosted by Beloved Holistics this past weekend. It was one of the highlights of my career so far! It was an amazing opportunity to learn from the best of the best. Each of these people have been educating, encouraging, and even collaborating with me through their podcasts, interviews, online collaboration programs, and books - really impacting how I have grown as a midwife over the last few years. Their wisdom, patience, and willingness to teach anyone who is open to learning is truly genuine. Be sure to check out their podcasts and interviews for amazing wisdom! #systembreech2023 #reteachbreech #breechwithoutborders #communitymidwife #certifiednursemidwife #homebirth #ilikebreechbuttsandicannotlie #birthoptions

Ever wonder how we sterilize our birth & breastfeeding supplies after we clean them?
In InstantPots - the same way many of you make dinner! (These pots, however, are dedicated solely to sterilizing and don’t ever see a bit of food!)

One of the most important parts of our practice is our commitment to offering TRUE informed consent and shared decision making to our clients. Case(s)-in-point, our births from last week. Last Monday, to be exact.
Family #1 experienced premature rupture of membranes (PROM, when waters release before labor starts) at 38w3d. With close monitoring, daily discussion of options, and mom’s trust in her body, they chose to watch and wait. Their (surprise!) baby girl arrived at 40w2d in a serene Hypnobabies-led birth early in the morning on 7/10!
Family #2 was patiently waiting for their rainbow baby (another surprise), when we started seeing signs that it was time to encourage baby to come. The family preferred to try some home induction options instead of transferring to the hospital. We spent Sunday slowly encouraging labor - a beautiful opportunity for mam and I to learn more about each other, eat nourishing foods, and continue to talk through options at each step of the way. Things slowed late in the night, just as I was called away to family #1. Mama went to sleep, since her body was giving her the opportunity & baby had been wonderful for us all day.
About 25 minutes after baby #1 was born, I received a call from family #2 that her waters had released. 5 minutes later I received a second call that things were moving fast (as I had predicted they would). This is when I am extra grateful for my community of sister-midwives who will jump in to help each other at a moment’s notice. Brenda Sanders Parrish was our angel in the night, and headed to help family #2 until we could get there. They welcomed their baby girl just 2.5 hours after I received the first call! We arrived to their home 1.5 hrs postpartum to relieve our help & resume care.
Two surprise baby girls, born 3 hours apart.
Welcome to the world (and happy 1 week & change!) Hannah Noelle (pictured) & Baby Girl #2! #communitybirth #homebirth #certifiednursemidwife #informedchoice #shareddecisionmaking
